2–2 Setting Up the Printer
Safety Precautions
Your Printronix Label Printer has been designed to give you many years of safe,
reliable service. As with all electrical equipment, there are a few basic
precautions you should take to avoid getting hurt or damaging the printer:
Read the installation and operating instructions in the documents
provided with your printer carefully. Be sure to save them for future
reference.
Read and follow all warning instruction labels on the printer itself.
Do not use your printer near water or spill liquid of any kind into it.
Your printer has a grounded, 3-prong plug as a safety feature, and it will
fit only into a grounded outlet. If you cannot plug it in, chances are you
have an older, non-grounded outlet. Contact an electrician to have the
outlet replaced. Do not use an adapter to defeat the grounding.
Avoid damaging the power cord; do not put anything on it or place it
where it will be walked on. If the power cord becomes damaged or
frayed, replace it immediately.
Do not insert anything into the ventilation slots or the openings on the
printer, as this can result in electrical shock or fire.
Do not remove the access door of the printer; there are no operator
serviceable parts behind it.
Do not allow long hair, ties, or jewelry to become entangled in the printer.
Only qualified, trained service technicians should attempt to repair your
printer if damaged or in need of repair.
Be aware of components in the printer that are potentially hazardous or
easily damaged.
