Printronix T3306 Printer User Manual

3–6 Configuring the Printer
Using the Secondary Operator Panel
Configuration parameters are set from the secondary operator panel or are
retrieved from the nonvolatile memory, located in the printer. The parameters
define how the printer will respond to command and interface signals from the
host computer.
The configuration menu structure consists of the main configuration menus and
the corresponding submenus, where applicable.
NOTE: Many of the selectable configurations refer to printer options or
features that may or may not be present in your printer. Selecting an
option or feature that is not present will result in no action being
performed by the printer.
There are two basic menu modes: user and service. The service mode allows full
access to all menu items, whereas the user mode allows access only to those
menu items that operators should be able to access. To enter either mode, the
printer must first be set to the OFFLINE status. Press the down arrow key to
begin using the configuration menus. To enter the service menus, press the
SHIFT and down arrow keys simultaneously.
The diagrams in Figure 3–2
and Figure 3–3 are overviews of the printer
configuration menu options when in the user and service modes respectively. For
details on the parameters that pertain to those options, refer to the specified
pages.
Moving Within the Configuration Menu
Movement within the configuration menus is controlled by using the appropriate
arrow keys. (Refer back to Table 3–1
, on page 3–5, for more details on the
function of the operator panel keys.)
Figure 3–4
provides an example of the steps you must follow to change a
configuration menu option. The illustration is divided into two parts: the left shows
a portion of a configuration menu as it is presented in this manual, and the right
shows the keys you must press to access a particular parameter. Also shown are
the messages that appear in the display after you press each key.
If you follow the example shown in Figure 3–4
, you will configure the printer for a
page length of 30 mm.
Use these basic guidelines to move throughout all the main and sublevel
configuration menus.
