2.1 Chapter overview
This chapter gives basic information on system func-
tions, specifications and doc umentation.
2.2 Generalities
The indications in the present Instructions Manual,
in particular the safety instructions must be com-
plied with.
2.3 Compliance
The Quantum Cascade Laser Starter Kit has been
designed to meet all current safety at work and op-
erating requir ements.
2.3.1 Laser compliance
The system described in this manual contains a
laser device. De pending of the emission power of
the laser used in the Sta rter Kit, the classification
may change.
According to the emission power, the laser prod-
uct meets the following requirements:
CLASS I : .. . . .. . . Emission power < 10 mW
CLASS IIIb : . . .. Emission power > 10 mW
