Start sending messages
Now that you’re more familiar with the handheld, you can start
sending and receiving messages. The following steps will help you
get started:
1. Install a new battery
2. Turn on the radio
3. Send a test message
4. Set a password to protect your handheld.
Installing the battery
Depending on usage, the handheld can operate for weeks using a
single AA alkaline battery. The handheld will work best if you use a
standard, high quality alkaline battery. We recommend against
using Lithium AA batteries or ULTRA batteries. These types of
batteries will provide the same amount of battery life as an alkaline,
but they cost more. The handheld is a “low drain” device that
optimizes the power of a standard alkaline.
1. To remove the battery cover, slide the lock to the right and pull
the cover up and off.
