Setting the Base and Offset frequencies for
Motorola VHF/UHF trunked systems
To properly track Motorola VHF and UHF trunked systems
you must enter what is known as the “base” and the
“offset” frequencies for each system. To find these out,
check the www.trunktracker.com or
www.bearcat1.com/free.htm and other web sites and
frequency resources.
To enter the base and offset frequency:
1. Select the bank into which you want to program the
trunking system.
2. Select the system type (Type II VHF or Type II UHF)
by scrolling through the system selector.
3. Enter the frequencies for the system.
4. Press . (406.000 is the default bAS frequency
for UHF)
5. Press . Or, enter a new base frequency and
press .
6. Press . The screen will show the OFS (offset)
frequency default of 50 kHz.
7. Press . Or, enter another offset including: 12.5, 25,
50 or 100.
8. Press to begin trunking.
Note: If the system is not tracking properly, you may
need to try a new base or offset frequency or you
may be missing frequencies from the system.
