Battery Symptom Charts
The battery won't charge
1. Remove any externally connected peripherals.
2. Try known-good power outlet.
3. Connect known-good PowerBook (1GHz/867MHz) power adapter (661-1798) and
power cord or plug; make sure the DC plug is rmly inserted. The DC plug should light
up, if not, replace DC-in board.
If the power adapter light is green, turn over the computer and press the battery
button. The battery lights should glow green and stay on if the power adapter is
operating correctly.
Important: The PowerBook (1GHz/867MHz) power adapter must be used with the
PowerBook (1GHz/867MHz) computers. The adapters can be identified by 65W in
the name and markings, and the metal securing-stud on the plug connector.
4. Try known-good battery.
5. Turn off the computer. With a non-metallic tool, reset the power manager by pressing
the reset button (located under the keyboard in the recess just left of the power
button). Wait ve seconds before continuing. Press the power button to start the
computer.
Warning: Resetting the power manager will permanently remove a RAM disk, if
present, and all of its contents. You will also need to reset the date and time
(using the Date & Time control panel).

6. Replace DC-in board.
7. Replace logic board.
