3 Using Your Computer
Your PowerBook has many built-in features and
connection capabilities that you can customize and
expand to fit your needs.
These include the following:
Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 ports for connecting additional equipment such as
printers, scanners, and other devices to your PowerBook. See page 32.
FireWire 400 and 800 ports for connecting high-speed equipment such as digital
videocameras and external hard drives. See page 34.
A PC Card/CardBus slot. See page 36.
Bluetooth wireless connectivity, AirPort Extreme wireless networking capability,
Ethernet networking capability, and a 56K modem for networking and
communications. See page 37.
Audio line in and headphone ports for connecting headphones, speakers,
microphones, and other audio equipment. See page 40.
DVI video output with included DVI-to-VGA adapter lets you use your PowerBook
with an external monitor or digital flat-panel display, including support for video-
mirroring and extended desktop (dual-display) modes. Use the built-in S-video
support to display content on your television. See page 41.
Optical drive that allows you to play CDs and DVDs and burn CDs. If you have a
SuperDrive you can burn DVDs as well. See page 43.
Security slot so that you can make sure your PowerBook stays where it should.
