Putting Your Mac mini to Sleep
Ifyou’llbeawayfromyourMacminiforlessthanafewdays,putittosleepinsteadof
shuttingitdown.WhenyourMacminiisinsleep,thedisplayisdarkandthediskdrive
stopsspinning.YoucanquicklywakeyourMacminiandbypassthestartupprocess.
To put your Mac mini to sleep, do one of the following:
 ChooseApple()>Sleepfromthemenubar.
 Pressthepower(®)buttononthebackofyourMacmini.
 ChooseApple()>SystemPreferences,clickEnergySaver,andsetasleeptimer.
 PressandholdthePlay/Pause(’)buttonontheoptionalAppleRemotefor
3seconds.
TowakeyourMacmini,pressanykeyonthekeyboardoranybuttonontheoptional
AppleRemote.WhenyourMacminiwakesfromsleep,yourapplications,documents,
andcomputersettingsareexactlyasyouleftthem.
Shutting Down Your Mac mini
Ifyouwon’tbeusingyourMacminiformorethanafewdays,shutitdown.Choose
Apple()>ShutDown.ToturnyourMacminionagain,pressthepower(®)button.
NOTICE: ShutdownyourMacminibeforemovingit.MovingyourMacminiwhilethe
harddiskisspinningcandamagetheharddisk,causinglossofdataoraninabilityto
startupfromtheharddisk.
