Letting Your NOOK Set up Your Account
To let your NOOK automatically configure your email account, do this:
1. On the email account set-up screen, enter the email address of the account you want to configure. This should
be an account you already have set up with your ISP or with an email service provider such as Google.
2. Enter the password for the account. If you would like to see the password as you type it, check the Show Pass-
word box below the password field.
3. To make this account the default account you will use for sending mail from your NOOK, check the box labeled
Send email from this account by default.
Tap Next.
Your NOOK connects to the email account and set up a connection. If your NOOK connected successfully, it
displays a new screen with a congratulatory message at the top. The screen features these two fields:
• Account name
• Your name
If it is unable to do so, it displays an error message.
4. If you would like to give this account a name (such as Gmail) so you can distinguish it from other email accounts
on your NOOK, enter the name in the field labeled Give this account a name. If you do not want to give this ac-
count a name, leave this field blank.
5. In the field labeled Your name, enter your name as you would like it to appear in email messages you send. This
name is the name that shows up in the From field in email listings.
6. Click Done.
You’ve finished setting up your email account.
Manually Setting up Your Account
NOTE: To set up your account manually, you will need to know the name of your account’s email server. Most
ISPs and email service providers provide this information in their help pages. If you setting up an email
account for a business or other private organization, you might need to ask a system administrator for
the server name and other relevant configuration information.
1. On the email account set-up screen, enter the email address of the account you want to configure. This should

2. Enter the password for the account. If you would like to see the password as you type it, check the Show Pass-
word box below the password field.
3. To make this account the default account you will use for sending mail from your NOOK, check the box labeled
Send email from this account by default.
4. Tap Manual Setup.
Your NOOK displays a Server settings screen.
5. In the Domain Username field, enter your username for this server.
NOTE: Some servers require that your name begin with a backward slash \. Your system administrator will
know whether or not your email account requires this.
6. In the Server name field, enter the name of the server.
7. To always use SSL when connecting to the email server, check the Use secure connection (SSL) field.
