Using show Commands to Display Interface and System Information
For aCatalyst RSM/VIP2, use theshow controllers serialcommand, using arguments suchas those
that specify the port adapter and port numbers (port-adapter/port), to display information that is
specific to the serial interface hardware. Following is an example of the show controllers serial
port-adapter/interface command that shows serial port 0/1 on a one-port PA-E3 installed on a
Catalyst RSM/VIP2:
router# show controllers serial 0/1

The show version (orshow hardware) command displaysthe configuration of thesystem hardware
(the number of each port adapter type installed), the software version, the names and sources of
configuration files, and the boot images. Following is an example of the output from the
show version command on a Cisco 7200 series router:
