Using the Reset Button
IfyouforgettheG‐Seriesloginpassword,usetheResetbuttontoresetthepasswordtothedefault
valueasdescribedinthefollowingprocedure.
ToresettheG‐Seriespassword:
1. LocatetheresetbuttononthebackoftheswitchasshowninFigure 3‐2.

1. Press‐and‐holdthe
resetbuttonwhiletheswitchisoperational.Thischangesthelogin
passwordtothedefaultpasswordandwillbeindicatedbymeansofthecommandline
interface(CLI)only.
2. YoucannowlogontotheswitchusingthedefaultpasswordviatheConsoleportandassigna
newpasswordusingthe
CLI.
3. ToaccessswitchmanagementfromyourlocalPC,terminal,ormodemconnection,refertothe
EnterasysG‐SeriesConfigurationGuideforinstructionsonhowtologinandenteranew
password.

Removing the Switch from a Rack
ToremovetheG‐SeriesEthernetswitchfromarack:
1. Whilesupportingtheswitchsoitdoesnotfall,carefullyremovethemountingscrewsfrom
thetwobracketsthatattachtheswitchtotherack.
2. Ifnecessary,removeeachbracketfromtheswitchbyremovingthemountingkitscrewsas
shown
inFigure 2 ‐1onpage 2‐5.
Note: Notify the system manager before changing the password.
