Type Styles
The printer can provide a wide range of type styles combining
different character fonts, widths, and other enhancements. You
can select type styles using your software or the SelecType
mode. Your software settings override SelecType settings, so it
is recommended you make font settings with your software
whenever possible.
This section explains the
Font
and
Pitch
buttons you use in
SelecType. The font and pitch settings you set in SelecType
remain in effect even after the printer is turned off, reset, or
initialized.
Character fonts
Your printer has draft and high-speed draft fonts, nine
letter-quality fonts, and four scalable fonts.
To select a font with the
Font
button, follow these steps:
1. Make sure that the printer is turned on.
2. Press
SelecType.
You can use the
Font
button in either
SelecType Level 1 or Level 2.
3. Press
Font
; the display first shows the current font with an
asterisk.
4. Press the
d
button or the
u
button until the display shows
the font name you want to use. See the font samples later
on page 4-22.
5. Press the
r
button to select the desired font.
6. Press
SelecType
again; the printer is ready to accept data
and print.
