Disk drive identifier
The program displays this prompt for the disk drive
identifier:
Disk drive (C/D) ? C
If only one hard disk is connected to the computer, the
program assumes it is drive C and does not display this
prompt.
Disk drive type
The program determines the type of hard disk drive based on
the type number stored in the CMOS RAM by the SETUP
program and displays the following prompt:
Disk drive type
? 17
A window on the screen lists the possible drive types. If you
need to change the type, use
7
or
&
to highlight the drive
type that matches your hard disk and press Enter.
If you select the User defined option (type 47), the program
prompts you for the following information:
Number of cylinders
Number of heads
Number of sectors per track
Write precompensation presence
Write precompensation cylinder number
Landing zone
Interleave factor
The interleave factor affects the performance of your hard
disk. You see the following prompt:
Interleave (1-16) ? 3
The default value is 3. Enter a different interleave factor only
if your hard disk documentation recommends it.
