Interpretation Possible Causes
Power Green/ON The unit is connected to
an AC power source
and the internal power
supply is functioning.
This is the normal state when powered
on.
OFF No power within the
switch.
-The line has no voltage.
-The switch is disconnected or the power
cable is bad.
-The switch is faulty.
Fault Amber/ON -Switch is running a
self-test.
-If the light remains on
after 15 seconds, the
switch failed the self-
test or an environmen-
tal fault has occurred.
- This is the normal self-test state.
-If the test fails, the switch may be faulty.
OFF Self-test completed
with no fault found.
Normal running state.

Interpretation Possible Causes
OFF OFF No signal Either:
a. no GBIC has been installed
or
b. no cable with a valid signal has been
attached since the GBIC was
installed.
ON OFF Good Signal Normal state for a valid port connection
OFF ON Port is bypassed Bad signal or no signal.
