Securing a CD in a tray with rotating clips
The drive tray shown on the left side of the illustration has four plastic
clips that rotate over the edges of a CD to secure it in a vertical drive.
To load a CD in a drive tray with four plastic clips:
1. Push the Eject/Load button to open the loading tray.
2. Place your CD into the loading tray.
3. Using your fingernail or something similar, gently rotate the clips
toward the center of the tray until they cover the edges of the
CD.
4. Close the tray, either by pushing the Eject/Load button again, or
by gently pushing on the tray.
Securing a CD in a tray with pullout clips
The drive tray on the right side of the illustration has clips that pull
out to secure a CD in a vertical drive.
To load a CD in a drive tray with pullout clips:
1. Push the Eject/Load button to open the loading tray.
2. Place your CD into the loading tray.
3. Using your fingernail or something similar, gently pull the clips
out, toward the center of the tray, until they cover the edges of
the CD.
4. Close the tray, either by pushing the Eject/Load button again, or
by gently pushing on the tray.
Manually ejecting a CD
If you press the Eject/Load button and the tray does not slide out, turn
off the computer and straighten a large paper clip to form a tool, as
shown in the illustration. The straightened end must extend at least 45
mm (1.8 in.). Insert the extended end into the manual-eject hole on
the front of the drive (see “Front view of the drive” on page 2-2).
Push the paper clip until the tray opens. Gently pull out the tray until
you can remove the CD.

Playing an audio CD
To play an audio CD, you must have an audio-CD program installed
in your computer. If you are using the CD-ReWritable drive with
Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 3.x, or OS/2,
the operating system includes multimedia extensions for audio-CD
player programs. If you are using the CD-ReWritable drive with
DOS, you must use the utility program included on the IBM
2X/4X/24X CD-ReWritable Internal IDE Option Kit Option Diskette in
order to play audio CDs on your computer.
