5.2 SAVING PARAMETER CHANGES TO NON-VOLATILE MEMORIES
All the programmable system parameters and calibration values are stored in non-volatile
memories. They are stored on two different modules. The pixel gain correction values and
camera exposure values are stored on the Video Motherboard and are accessed directly when
scanning is active. All other parameters are stored on the Calibration and Line Splice ( CALS )
Board.
5.2.1 PIXEL CORRECTION AND EXPOSURE VALUES
Every time camera gain or exposure calibration is performed, new values will directly replace
the old values in the memory and the old values are lost.
5.2.2 SYSTEM PARAMETERS
Procedure for Issuing the SAVE Command:
In order to save parameter changes permanently in the non-volatile memory, issue either of the
following SAVE commands:
• From the Main Menu of the Local Control Terminal, press and hold down the <CTRL> key
as you press <S> to save the changes made.
• From the scanner’s keypad, press the <OPT> key and then press the down arrow key. On
the left side of the keypad display, “4. Save Parameters “ will appear. On the right side of
the display , two messages will alternate : “ A : Proceed “ and “ OPT : Exit “. Press
the keypad <A> key to save parameters followed by <OPT> to exit .
In either case, the system will beep to indicate that the command has been executed.

NOTE: Parameters may be saved only when the memory write protect switch on the CALS
Board in set to “ Write Enable “. Since this is the default switch setting, it is not necessary to
write-protect the non-volatile memory.

If the scanner returns the message, “SORRY, WRITE PROTECTED”, perform the following
procedure to change the write protect status of the CALS Board first:
1. Open the front cover of the scanner and the card-cage door.
