theInternetoranIntranet.Byintegratingvoiceandfaxintoyourexistingdatanetwork,youcansubstantially
saveoninterofficelongdistancetollcharges.MultiVOIPgatewaysconnectdire ctlytophones,faxmachines,key
systems,
PSTNlines,oraPBXtoproviderealtime,tollqualityvoiceconnectionstoanyofficeonyourVOIP
network.The–SSseriesmodelsonlysupporttheSIPprotocolthroughtheFXS/FXOinterfacewithSIP
survivabilityaswell.

TheseMultiVOIPsinteroperatewithatelephoneswitchorPBX,actingasaswitchingdevicethatdirectsvoice
andfaxcallsoveranIPnetwork.TheMultiVOIPshave“phonebooks,”directoriesthatdeterminetowhocalls
maybemadeandthesequencesthat
mustbeusedtocompletecallsthroughtheMultiVOIP .Thephonebooks
allowthephoneusertointeractwith theVOIPsystemjustastheywouldwithanordinaryPBXortelcoswitch.
Whenthephonebooksareset,specialdialingsequencesareminimizedoreliminatedaltogether.Oncethecall
destinationis
determined,thephonebooksettingsdeterminewhetherthedestination VOIPunitmuststripoff
oradddialingdigitstomak ethecallappearatitsdestinationtobealocalcall.
