Hardware Functional Overview
The NEC Versa 2500 Series notebooks consist of several major functions and subsystems
including:
system BIOS – implemented on the system board and Flash ROM
system processor – implemented on the system board
system logic controller – implemented on the I/O Board
memory subsystem – implemented on the system board
video subsystem – implemented on the I/O board, LED board, and LCD display
panel
I/O subsystem – implemented on the I/O board
keyboard subsystem – implemented on part of the system board, and keyboard as-
sembly
PCMCIA controller and sockets – implemented on the system board
pointing device subsystem – implemented on the I/O board and keyboard assem-
bly
hard disk subsystem – implemented on the system board and the hard drive as-
sembly
floppy disk subsystem – implemented on the system board and the diskette drive
CD-ROM subsystem – implemented on the system board and the CD-ROM
reader
power subsystem – implemented on the power supply board, inverter board, bat-
tery packs, and AC adapter
