Setting Description
IP address Select a radio button for the IP address setting:
• Obtain an IP address automatically. The modem router acquires the IP
address automatically.
• Use the following IP address. Enter an IP address in the WAN IP Address
field.
Enable NAT Select this check box to enable NAT, which automatically assigns private IP
addresses (10.1.1.x) to LAN-connected devices.
PPP IP extension Select this check box to enable the modem router to function in semi bridge mode.
This option is available only when the IP address is obtained automatically and
when NAT is disabled.
Add Default Route Select this check box to set the current PVC as the default route. If this check box
is deselected, the first PVC that was enabled is set as the default route.
MTU The normal MTU (Maximum Transmit Unit) value for most Ethernet networks is
1500 bytes, or 1492 bytes for PPPoE connections. For some ISPs you might need
to reduce the MTU. This is rarely required, and should not be done unless you are
sure it is necessary for your ISP connection.
