Care and Storage of Batteries
To maximize the life of Compaq R6000 UPS batteries:
Minimize the amount of time the UPS is using battery power. Match
the UPS input voltage range configuration with your utility voltage.
Refer to the section, “Using the LCD Menu to Configure the R6000,”
in Chapter 4 for more information.
Keep the area around the UPS clean and dust-free. If the environment is
very dusty, clean the outside of the UPS regularly with a vacuum
cleaner.
Maintain the ambient temperature at 25
o
C (77
o
F).
If storing a UPS for an extended period, recharge the batteries every six
months:
a.
Connect your UPS to utility power; refer to Chapter 2,
“Installation.”
b.
Allow the UPS to remain in Standby mode. (See Chapter 3,
“Operation”)
c.
Let the UPS run to charge the batteries for 24 hours.
d.
Update the Battery Recharge Date label.
