Creating the Primary Partition
Follow the steps below to create a primary partition on your hard
disk:
1.
Insert the working copy of the MS-DOS Startup diskette in
drive A.

Turn on the computer (if it is not on already).
At the
A>
prompt, type FDISK and press
Enter.
The screen
displays the FDISK Options menu.
Press 1 to select the Create DOS partition option and press
Enter.

Press 1 to select the Create Primary DOS partition option and
press
Enter.
The screen displays the following prompt:
Do you wish to use the maximum size for a DOS
partition and make the DOS partition active
(Y/N). . . . . . . . . . .?[Y]

Press Y to create a maximum-sized partition and press
Enter.
The
screen displays the following message and prompts:
System will now restart
Insert DOS diskette in drive A:
Press any key when ready . . .

Press any key to restart the system (the MS-DOS Startup diskette
is already in drive A). Your computer begins reloading MS-DOS,
displaying the preliminary copyright information and then the
date prompt.
8.
Press
Enter
twice to accept the date and time shown.
The system now recognizes the primary partition and MS-DOS
automatically designates the primary partition as drive C. The
A >
prompt reappears.
