6. Locate the system battery on the system board.

7. Use a small flat-blade screwdriver and pop the battery out of the plastic socket by sliding the blade under
the leaf spring on the top of the battery.

Installing the System Battery
1. Insert the new battery with the positive sign (+) facing up, and ensure that it is seated completely.
2. Verify that the retaining clip is in place, and holds the battery firmly.
3. To complete battery replacement, reverse steps 1-7.
4. If necessary, reset the date and time on the HP Server.

Removing the System Board
1. Power down the HP Server and disconnect the power cord(s) from the back of the server.
WARNING The power supplies continue to provide standby voltage to the HP Server until the power
cord(s) is/are disconnected.
CAUTION Wear a wrist strap and use a static-dissipating work surface connected to the chassis when
handling components. Ensure the metal of the wrist strap contacts your skin.
