Built-in analog microphone
Your computer also has an audio chip that enables you to enjoy various multimedia audio features:
Compliant with Intel

High Denition Audio.
Recording and playback of PCM and WAV les in 16-bit or 24-bit format.
Playback of a WAV le at a sample rate of 44.1KHz to 192 KHz.
Playback of MIDI les through a Wavetable synthesizer under Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Playback of MP3 les through the Windows Media Player or a software MP3 player.
Recording from various sound sources, such as a headset attached to the combo audio jack of your
computer.
Note: The combo audio jack does not support a conventional microphone. If a conventional headphone is
attached to it, the headphone function is supported. If a headset with a 3.5mm 4-pole plug is attached to it,
both headphone and microphone functions are supported.
Setting the volume
Each device has volume controls, which you can set.
To open the window for adjusting the output volume or the recording volume, do the following:
For Windows 7:
Click Start Control Panel Hardware and Sound Sound. The Sound window appears.
Click the Playback tab or Recording tab, and then click a device, which you want to customize.
Click the Properties button.
Click the Levels tab, and then change the volume by moving the slider.
For Windows XP:
Click Start Control Panel Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices Sounds and Audio Device.
The Sounds and Audio Device Properties window appears.
Click the Audio tab, and then click the Volume button in Sound Playback or Sound Recording.
Notes:
You also can get access to the desktop volume control by using the volume icon in the task bar at
the lower right of the screen. To open the Volume Control window, click the volume icon. To control
the volume, move the volume control slider up or down. To turn off the sound, select Mute speakers
(Mute in Windows XP).
The names of windows or elds are slightly different depending on the operating system you use.
For details about controlling volume, refer to your Windows online help.
Conguring for sound recording
To congure the microphone for optimized sound recording, do as follows:
For Windows 7: Click Start Control Panel Hardware and Sound SmartAudio.
For Windows XP: Click Start Control Panel Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices SmartAudio.
Using the integrated camera
If your computer has an integrated camera, when you press Fn+F6 to open the Communications settings
window, the camera will be launched and the green camera-in-use indicator will turn on automatically. In
