3. Configuring the Printer for
the Network
Make the network settings below depending on the network interface you use.
• Parallel/USB: Making network settings is not necessary. Go to p.51 “Install-
ing the Printer Driver and Software”.
• Ethernet: Make the settings in p.41 “Ethernet Configuration”, and then see
p.51 “Installing the Printer Driver and Software”.
• IEEE 1394: Make the settings in p.45 “IEEE 1394 Configuration”, and then see
p.51 “Installing the Printer Driver and Software”.
• Wireless LAN: Make the settings in p.48 “IEEE 802.11b (Wireless LAN) Con-
figuration”, and then see p.51 “Installing the Printer Driver and Software”.
Note
❒ The optional Network Interface Board is necessary to use Ethernet with Basic
model printer.
❒ The optional 1394 Interface Unit is necessary to use IEEE 1394.
❒ The optional 802.11b Interface Unit is necessary to use the wireless LAN.
Ethernet Configuration
Configure the printer for the network
using the printer's control panel.
The following table shows the control
panel settings and their default val-
ues. These items are included in the
”Host Interface” menu.
