15.9 Connecting to the WAN Switch
The VES-1000 Series switch cannot connect to the WAN switch.
Table 15-I Troubleshooting Connecting to the WAN Switch
STEPS CORRECTIVE ACTION
1 Check your cable connections. Use a straight through Ethernet cable when connecting the VES-1000 Series
switch to a WAN switch. Use a crossover Ethernet cable if you are daisy-chaining to other VES-1000 Series
switches and make sure trunking is disabled.
2 If Ethernet port trunking is enabled (in SMT menu 2), make sure the WAN switch also supports Ethernet port
trunking.
3 The factory default settings for the Ethernet port of the VES-1000 Series switch are:
Speed: Auto
Duplex: Auto
Flow control: On
Trunking: Disabled
If the VES-1000 Series switch’s auto-negotiation is turned off, an Ethernet port uses the pre-configured
speed and duplex mode when making a connection, thus requiring you to make sure that the settings of the
WAN switch Ethernet port are in the same order to connect.
