OmniSwitch 6600 Family Chassis and Hardware Components Backup Power Supply

Redundant AC Circuit Recommendation
When a backup power supply is installed, it is recommended that the AC source connected to the backup
power supply resides on a separate circuit from the primary power supply. With redundant AC, if a single
circuit fails, the switch’s backup power supply (on a separate circuit) will likely be unaffected and the
switch can continue operating.
Note. The switch must have a backup power supply installed for the redundant AC circuit recommenda-
tion to be applicable.
The diagram below shows a simple redundant AC circuit scenario for OS6600 Family switches.

Power Supply
In the event of a failure at circuit 1
(for example, a tripped circuit
breaker), the redundant power
supply plugged into the grounded
AC outlet on circuit 2 allows
switch operations to continue.
Both the primary and redundant
power supplies are installed in the
chassis, providing power supply
redundancy
.
Each power supply is connected to
an AC source on a separate circuit.
