Mini Gigabit Interface Converters (MiniGBICs)
Mini Gigabit Interface Converters (MiniGBICs) are fiber-based Gigabit Ethernet transceivers for use with
OS6600-GNI-U2 uplink modules on OmniSwitch 6624, 6600-U24, 6600-P24, and 6648 switches and the
built-in MiniGBIC ports on OmniSwitch 6602-24 and 6602-48 switches. MiniGBICs are interchangeable
and hot-swappable, thus providing users an easy, flexible solution for adapting OS6600 Family switches
to different physical interfaces types.
Alcatel offers three MiniGBIC options:
• MiniGBIC-SX: 1000BASE-SX short-haul
• MiniGBIC-LX: 1000BASE-LX long-haul
• MiniGBIC-LH-70: 1000BASE-LH extra long-haul
All MiniGBIC types support bi-directional wire-speed switching. For additional technical specifications

page 2-46.
