Using BOOTP
in UNIX
Follow the instructions below to set the IP address using BOOTP:
1. Append the following entry to your boot table. This is typically
performed by editing the file: /etc/bootptab
Example - AXIS 540+/542+ Ethernet Print Servers:
Example - AXIS 640/642 Token Ring Print Servers:
Notes: Enter the
ht and vm fields exactly as shown in the example.
The
ha field is the Ethernet address/node address and the ip field
is the IP address of your AXIS 540/640.
The
gw and sm fields correspond to the default router address and
subnet mask.
If the host name has not been mapped to an IP address, simply
replace the host name entry with the IP address in the example
above.
2. If necessary, update your host table and alias name databases, as
required by your system.
3. If it is not already running, start the BOOTP daemon. This is
typically performed using the
bootpd command.
4. Restart the AXIS 540/640 to download the IP address, default
router address, and subnet mask.
