If
you
do not have a hard disk, insert the Startup diskette in
drive A. Turn on the computer.
If you set a new password or kept the same one, you see the
Password
:
prompt.
Enter the password to access your
system. (See "Using the Password” in Chapter 3.)
If you deleted your password, you do not see the
Password
:
immediately.
prompt and can access your system
Note
Be sure to remember your new password or write it down and
keep it in a safe place. If you forget the password you enter
now, you may have to repeat the procedure above the next
time you reboot your computer.
Keyboard Problems
If you are having trouble with the keyboard, check the
following:
1.
If the screen displays a keyboard error when you turn on or
reset the computer, make sure the keyboard is securely
connected to its port. See “Connecting the Keyboard” in
Chapter 1 for instructions.
2.
If the cursor keys do not work properly, the num lock
function may be on. When num lock is on, the numeric/
arrow keys on the numeric keypad work only as numbers.
Check to see if the
Num Lock
indicator in the upper right
corner of the keyboard is lit; if it is, press the
Num Lock
key
to turn off the function.
3.
If nothing happens when you type on the keyboard, see
“The Computer Does Not Respond,” above.
