use off-hook dialing
You can dial a telephone number on the HP Fax as you would a regular
telephone – that is, listen to the ringing, the answering, and the fax tones of the
recipient's fax machine. You might use off-hook dialing when you want to charge
the fax call to your calling card. Or, use it to verify the number you are calling,
for example, to make sure you’re calling is a fax number. Use off-hook dialing
so that you can hear the tones of the recipient’s fax machine before sending the
fax.
Follow these steps to use off-hook dialing:
1 Load your original in the ADF.
For more information, see load originals on page 5.
2 Press Start, Black or Start, Color.
3 After Off hook appears, use the front-panel keypad to dial the phone
number.
Enter all the numbers you would enter if you were dialing the number from
a phone using your credit or calling card.
4 Follow any voice prompts that may occur.
Your fax will be sent when the receiving fax answers.
