Removal and replacement procedures
Power connector cable
The power connector cable is available in the Cable Kit, spare part number 516328-001.
Before removing the power connector cable, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
“Battery” on page 4-7).
5. Remove the following components:
a. Primary and secondary hard drive covers (see
“Hard drive covers” on page 4-9)
b. Primary and secondary hard drives (see
“Hard drive” on page 4-12)
c. Optical drive (see
“Optical drive” on page 4-8)
d. WLAN module (see
“WLAN module” on page 4-15)
e. Switch cover and keyboard (see
“Switch cover and keyboard” on page 4-21)
f. Speaker assembly (see
“Speaker assembly” on page 4-26)
g. Display assembly (see
“Display assembly” on page 4-28)
h. Top cover (see
“Top cover” on page 4-37)
i. System board (see
“System board” on page 4-40)
j. USB board (see
“USB board” on page 4-46)
Remove the power connector cable:
1. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×7.0 screw 1 that secures the power connector and bracket to the base enclosure.
2. Remove the power connector bracket 2.
3. Remove the power connector from the base enclosure 3 and release the power connector cable from the
routing channel 4.
Reverse this procedure to install the power connector cable assembly.
