Installing Software for Macintosh
This chapter describes installing printer and scanner driver software and
setting up printing on a Macintosh computer. Instructions for setting up
additional software provided on the KX-PS8100 CD-ROMs are included at
the end of this chapter.
Serial port printing (LocalTalk) from Macintosh computers is not supported
by the printer. For instructions on how to connect your printer to a network,
see page 70.
General steps for installing Macintosh software
The general steps for installing the KX-PS8100 software from the CD-
ROMs and setting up printing on a Macintosh computer are:
Enable Ethernet and AppleTalk from the printer panel
See “Network Port Setup” on page 146 and “Network Protocol Setup” on
page 148 for details.
Enable AppleTalk in the Chooser on the Macintosh
Install the Adobe PostScript printer driver
Setup the KX-PS8100 in the Chooser
Copy font files from the KX-PS8100 CD-ROM as needed
Install the scanner driver
NOTE:
Initial Printer Setup, specifically, setting the printer’s IP address and
subnet mask, as well as its gateway (if they are used), must be performed
from the printer panel. Additional options may be specified using the
printer panel or Fiery WebSetup.
