Installing a hard disk drive
The following section explains how to install the hard disk drive on the
printer. It also describes how to initialize the new hard disk drive for use
from the printer panel.
To install the hard disk drive you will need to remove the printer controller
board, install the drive and then replace the printer controller board in the
printer. For instructions, see “Removing and replacing the printer controller
board” on page 273.
IMPORTANT:
• To prevent static electricity damage to certain components (see
page 272), touch a grounded metal surface, such as the printer’s bare
metal frame prior to touching the component.
CAUTIONS:
• Do not drop or bend the hard disk drive.
• Do not touch the hard disk drive connector and electrical circuit board.
• Protect the hard disk drive from static electricity by keeping it in its anti-
static package until you are ready to install it.
• Avoid exposing the hard disk drive to direct sunlight, high temperatures,
or humidity.
