TheTVP5154EVMusesa4-row120-pinconnectortosharecommonsignalsandthe5-Vpowersupply
betweentheboards.ThisconnectionallowsmultiplebackendstobeconnectedtotheTVP5154EVM.The
EVMpackageisshippedwithanencodermodule.Thisconnectorsharesalldigitalvideobits(Y[7:0]),all
videoclocks(VS,HS,GLCO/FID,andDATACLK),5V,ground,I

TheTVP5154EVMdecoderhasananaloginputchannelthatacceptstwovideoinputsforeachdecoder
core.Thedecodersupportsamaximuminputvoltagerangeof0.75V,therefore,anattenuationof
one-halfisneededformostinputsignalswithapeak-to-peakvariationof1.5V.Theparalleltermination
beforetheinputtothedeviceis75Ω.Thetwoanaloginputscanbeconnectedaseithertwoselectable
compositevideoinputs,oroneS-videoinput.
TheTVP5154EVMallowstheusertohaveuptotwocompositeinputsoroneS-videoinputforeachofthe
four-channels.TheEVMsoftwaresetsupandcontrolsthisinputselection.TheS-videoinputusestwo
connectors,oneforthelumachannelandoneforthechromachannel.
TheEVMhasaresistornetworkoneachoftheinputs.Thesenetworksattenuatethesignalandallowa
75-Ωresistortogroundtobeplacedaftertheanti-aliasfilterfortermination.
Eachinputhasananti-aliasfilterthatcanbein-circuitorbypassedbyjumpers(JP1–JP8).Toselectthe
filter,theshuntsneedtobepositionedtoshortpositions1-3and2-4.Tobypassthefilter,theshuntsneed
tobemovedtoshortpositions1-2and3-4asshowninFigure2.Theboardsareshippedwiththefilter
bypassed.

The8-bitdigitalvideooutputsoftheTVP5154areroutedtothefour32-pinheaders(H2–H5),theDM642,
andfinallytothe120-pinedgeconnectoralongwithallvideoclocksontheTVP5154module.The
encodermoduleconnectstothe120-pinconnector,andiscapableofreceivingdigitalvideowithor
withoutembeddedsyncs.Theanalogoutputsoftheencodermodulearecomposite,S-video,and
component.Fortheuser’sconvenience,alloftheseoutputscomeoutoftheencodermodule
simultaneously.
