DEFINITY G3PD Administrator Utility Reports
LAN Link Status Not Talking
When the DEFINITY G3PD Administrator utility’s Link Status command is run, the
Link Status field on the Link Status screen (see Figure 3-6) contains an entry that
is other than "talking." For more information on this field, see Link Status in
Chapter 3.
The following numbered items represent possible scenarios:
1. The LAN link to the DEFINITY switch is down.
When the link to the DEFINITY switch is down, the TCP/IP connection is
not closed. However, the G3PD cannot communicate over the link until it
receives a link status message that the link is up. To establish or
re-establish the link to the DEFINITY switch, you must first determine what
is wrong on the switch or on the DEFINITY LAN Gateway and correct it.
The G3PD should then receive a status update and the link to the
DEFINITY LAN Gateway should work properly.
■ Use the DEFINITY status bri-port command to verify that the
status of the ASAI port is "l3-established".
■ Choose "Port Status/Control" from the DEFINITY LAN Gateway
main menu. This command should indicate that the DEFINITY Port
State is "CONNECTED", the TCP/IP Connection State is
"Established", and the Brouter Service State is "in service".
The following bullet items list the values of the LAN link status that may be
reported:
■ BRI Down — There has been a problem in the communication
between the DLG and the switch. To clear this problem, do the
following:
1. On the DLG, verify that the port listed under "Brouter
Administration" agrees with the last two digits of the port on
the station form for the ASAI link on the switch. If it does not,
change the administration so that it does. Otherwise,
proceed to step 2.
2. On the switch, verify the ASAI station settings are correct:
TEI fixed? y
TEI 3
CRV Length 2
MIM n
XID y
Event minimization n
