Upgrading Your PowerEdge
System to a Cluster Configuration
This chapter provides information for performing the following procedures:
Upgrading your PowerEdge system for use in a Dell PowerEdge Cluster
FE100/FL100 Datacenter Server configuration.
Installing the appropriate version of Microsoft Windows 2000 on your PowerEdge
system.
NOTE: There is no upgrade path for customers who want to migrate to Microsoft
Windows 2000 Datacenter Server. You must reinstall and configure the Windows
2000 Datacenter Server software.
Upgrading Your PowerEdge System to a
PowerEdge Cluster FE100/FL100
Datacenter Server Configuration
To properly upgrade your system to a PowerEdge Cluster FE100/FL100 Datacenter
Server configuration, perform the following procedures:
1. Ensure that your existing system configuration meets the minimum configuration
required for clustering and install the required hardware and software clustering
components as needed.
See “Preparing for Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server Installation” in
Chapter 6, “Configuring the System Software” for information on how to install
Windows 2000 Datacenter Server on your cluster nodes.
CAUTION: Configurations using non-Dell products, such as server
systems, rack cabinets, and storage systems, have not been approved
by any safety agencies. It is the customer's responsibility to have these
systems evaluated for any safety hazards or implications by a certified
safety agency.
