Installing the Appropriate Version of
Windows 2000 on Your PowerEdge System
The Microsoft Windows 2000 platform provides two operating systems to implement
clustering on PowerEdge systems:
Windows 2000 Advanced Server—For PowerEdge FE100/FL100 systems used
in two-node clustering.
Windows 2000 Datacenter Server—For PowerEdge FE100/FL100 systems
used in 2-node, 3-node, and 4-node clustering.
When you are installing Windows 2000 on your cluster nodes, be sure to select the
appropriate operating system that will support the number of cluster nodes in your
PowerEdge cluster. For example, if you have a two-node cluster, you can install
Advanced Server or Datacenter Server on your cluster nodes. However, if you have a
three-node or four-node cluster, you must install Datacenter Server on all of the clus-
ter nodes.
NOTE: There is no upgrade support for customers who migrate from Windows NT 4.0
to Windows 2000 Datacenter Server operating system.
