Uninstalling Cluster Service
You may need to uninstall the Cluster Service for cluster node maintenance, such as
upgrading the node and/or replacing the node. Before you can uninstall MSCS from a
node, perform the following steps:
1. Take all resource groups offline or move them to the other node.
2. Stop the Cluster Service running on the node that you want to uninstall.
3. Click the Start button and select Programs—> Control Panel—> Add/Remove
Programs.
4. Uninstall the Cluster Service.
5. Start Cluster Administrator from another cluster node.
6. Right-click the node you want to evict and select Options—> Evict Node.
Running chkdsk /f on a Quorum Disk
If your quorum disk is corrupted, you must run the chkdsk command with the /f (fix)
option to repair the disk.
Since MSCS uses the quorum resource’s recovery logs to update the cluster data-
base, do not run chkdsk /f on the hard-disk drive that contains the quorum resource.
To run chkdsk /f on a quorum resource's hard-disk drive, perform the following steps:
1. Move the quorum resource temporarily to another drive by right clicking the clus-
ter name, selecting Properties, and then selecting the Quorum tab.
2. Run chkdsk /f on the drive that previously stored the quorum resource.
3. To move the quorum resource, right-click the cluster name, select Properties,
and then select the Quorum tab.
4. Select another disk as the quorum disk and press <Enter>.
5. Run chkdsk /f on the drive that previously stored the quorum resource.
6. Upon completion, move the quorum disk back to the original drive.
Replacing a Cluster Node
This section outlines the necessary steps for replacing one of the cluster nodes in
your FE100/FL100 Datacenter Server cluster.
NOTE: Before you replace a cluster node, make sure that you performed a tape
backup of the cluster node that contains a copy of the local registry. The following
steps assume that you have a tape backup of the cluster node.
To replace the cluster node, perform the following steps:
1. Power down and disconnect the failed cluster node.
