Using BOOTP in UNIX Follow these steps to set the Internet address using BOOTP:
1. Append the following entry to your boot table. This is typically
performed by editing the file:
/etc/bootptab
Example:
Notes: Enter the
ht and vm fields exactly as shown.
The
ha field is the Ethernet address and the ip field is the Internet
address of your AXIS 1440.
The
gw and sm fields correspond to the default router address and
subnet mask (
DEF_ROUT and NET_MASK).
2. If necessary, update your host table and alias name databases as
required by your system.
3. If it is not already running, start the BOOTP daemon. This is
typically performed using the
bootpd command.
4. Restart the AXIS 1440 to download the Internet address, default
router address and subnet mask.
The AXIS 1440 can automatically download a customized config file
from a TFTP server. Just add the name of the config file and the
Internet address of the TFTP server to your boot table. The config file
is downloaded immediately after the AXIS 1440 receives its Internet
address.
