With the exception of the power supply, all specifications and functions of
Magnum 3000s-48VDC, 24VDC and 125VDC models are identical to those listed in
the main manual.
B2.0 -48VDC, 24VDC & 125VDC POWER OPTION, THEORY OF
OPERATION
The -48VDC, 24VDC & 125VDC power options are designed using diodes
inside on each DC power input line behind the two external power connection terminals,
so that the power from an external
source can only flow into the hub.
This allows the 3000s to operate only
whenever DC power is correctly
applied to the two inputs. It protects
the 3000s from incorrect DC input connections. An incorrect polarity connection, for
example, will neither affect the 3000s, its internal power supply, nor will it blow the fuse
in the internal power supply.
The manual power “On-Off” Switch (optional) is used for powering the unit on
and off when it is placed into or taken out of service.
B3.0 APPLICATIONS FOR DC POWERED HUBS
Magnum 3000’s are easily installed in a variety of applications where -48VDC,
24VDC & 125VDC power is used as the primary power source. The- 48VDC, 24VDC &
125VDC power configuration provides an Ethernet networking solution utilizing a
special power supply in hubs with a proven track record.
