IKE and IPSec Work Together
Packet Protect uses IKE and IPSec to protect packets traveling on the network:
• IKE — Negotiates the security settings to be used by IPSec for protection
of the communication.
• IPSec — Protects the packets traveling between two computers that are
attempting to communicate.
The following diagram illustrates how Packet Protect uses IKE and IPSec
together to protect a communication between two computers
