Expanding the Printer Memory
This section explains how to expand the printer’s memory. Expanded
printer memory enables you to print more complex pages, download more
fonts, and define more macros.
This section first explains how to remove the main circuit board and then
how to install a DIMM (Dual In-line Memory Module) on the main circuit
board.
The FS-3830N comes supplied with 96 MB of memory installed, while the
FS-3820N comes with 64 MB of memory. Two sockets are provided on the
FS-3830N and one socket on the FS-3820N for expanding that memory.
Expanding the printer’s memory allows more complex printing jobs to be
accomplished and increases the printing speed. By installing DIMM into
your printer, the memory of the FS-3830N can be increased to a maximum
of 576 MB and that of the FS-3820N to a maximum of 320 MB.
The expansion memory should be installed only by a Kyocera Mita
authorized dealer or Kyocera Mita certified technician. Kyocera Mita
shall not be liable for damage due to improper installation of the
expansion memory.
The 32 MB DIMM memory that come standard with the FS-3830N is
installed in one of the expansion sockets.
