Use your computer with battery power whenever ac power adapter is unavailable.
By installing an extended life battery available as an option you can extend the operating time of the
computer.
You can also use Power Manager to adjust your power setting as needed. For details, refer to the instructions
in “Power Manager” on page 19.
2 Docking connector (some models)
Depending on models, your computer may equipped with a docking connector. The docking connector can
extend the computer capabilities when you are in your ofce or home with a ThinkPad port replicator or
a ThinkPad docking station.
Note: If your computer has a docking connector, it supports ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3, ThinkPad
Mini Dock Series 3, and ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3.
3 Hard disk drive or solid state drive
Your computer may have a large-capacity, customer-upgradable hard disk drive that can meet a variety
of storage demands. To keep the data on your drive safe, Active Protection System™ is installed on your
computer. For details, refer to “Active Protection System” on page 18
.

are equipped with a solid state drive for data storage. This cutting-edge technology enables notebook
computers to be lighter and faster.
Note: The hidden service partition is the reason why there is less free space than expected on your hard
disk drive.
