Playing or Erasing the Memo and Messages
Playing the Memo and Messages
play/stop
To play messages left by callers, press
play/stop
. The fax will play your memo
first (see “Memo,” right column) and then any messages left by callers. You’ll
hear the oldest message first and the most recently stored message. The display
will show the date and time when each message was stored as the message is
played, thanks to the fax’s date and time stamp feature.
Here are explanations of the displays you’ll see on the LCD as messages play:
Memo 03/10 14:00
A memo, recorded on March 10 at 2:00 PM.
02 03/11 08:53
Incoming message #2, recorded on March 11 at 8:53 AM.
After all recordings have been played, the display will return to standby; or you
can press
play/stop
at any time to stop message playback and return to standby.
skip and repeat
While playing messages stored on your fax machine, you may use these buttons:
skip
Allows you to skip to the beginning of the next message.
If pressed while a memo is playing, skips to the first message of any
stored incoming messages.
Returns the fax machine to standby when pressed during playing of
either the last message or a memo when there are no messages.
repeat
Allows you to hear a memo or message again.
When pressed while a memo or message is playing, the fax begins
playing the message again after a brief pause.
If pressed twice while an incoming message (other than the first) is
playing, causes the fax to play the previous message. (If the first
incoming message is playing, pressing Repeat twice has no effect.)
Erasing the Memo and Messages
Playing your memo or messages does not erase them from the fax’s digital
message memory. You must choose to erase them.
Erasing one
To erase the incoming message currently playing, press
erase
.
Erasing all
To erase all currently stored incoming messages and the memo, wait until no
messages are playing; then, hold down
erase
until the LCD shows:
** All Erased **
Note:
This procedure does not erase any stored voice mail box messages (see
pages 4.9-4.10).
Memo
Memo recording saves one 60-second message for remembering things like:
• A deadline
• An appointment time and date
• A person (and the phone number) whom you need to call
• A special errand that you need to run
• A brief to-do list
Your fax machine plays the memo first whenever you retrieve messages remotely
(see pages 4.11-4.14), making this a great way to leave a message for someone
away from home.
Recording a memo
1. Make sure the handset is hung up and that
monitor/call
is off.
2. Press
record
, then press
record
again.
Rec.Time: 01min.
3. Speak clearly into the microphone on the control panel. (You cannot use the
telephone handset to record your memo.) The fax machine will begin
recording immediately. The LCD will begin counting down the remaining
time:
