Versalar 15000 Card Glossary
Access Interface
Card
Supports network layer processing for access processor (AP) cards. In the
Versalar 15000, it occupies slots 1 to 5 in the back of the chassis and includes:
• Hex T3 (T3) cards
• Access redundancy module (ARM) cards
• Dual OC-3 (single-mode and multimode) for CAP
Access Processor
(AP) Card
Provides layer 2 processing. The Versalar 15000 supports five AP cards in the
front of the chassis in slots 1 to 5. Each AP card services the access interface card
corresponding to the slot number of the installed AP card. For example, the AP
card installed in processor card slot 2 services the access interface card installed
in interface card slot 2.
In the Versalar 15000, AP cards include:
• M13 CAP card
• M13/DS3 CAP card
• DS3 CAP card
• ATM access processor card
Access
Redundancy
Module (ARM)
Allows failover to a similar redundant AP card as long as an ARM card is
installed in slot 5 in the back of the Versalar 15000 chassis.
Alarm Mute Button
Identifies the button located on the system services processor (SSP) interface
Ethernet or SSP interface console card that disables the external visible or audible
alarm.
