The following figure shows an example of the network configuration between a
DEFINITY system, the DPA computer, and an NMS network server.

2 Netcon channel or system access ports
on the DEFINITY system
3 Dial-up connection between
DEFINITY system and DPA modem
4 DPA stand-alone computer and DPA
5 Internet TCP/IP connection (LAN or WAN)
between DPA and the NMS server
6 UNIX Network server where DNM resides.
The server can be
• OpenView that runs on Sun Solaris or
HP-UX;
• NetView that runs on AIX
