any one time. Only one Data Agent should be running to ensure that the nodes have a
consistent view of the PowerVault storage system.
To install the Data Agent as a cluster resource, perform the following steps:
1. Confirm that Dell OpenManage Managed Node (Data Agent) is installed on all of
the cluster nodes and is configured to start manually.
2. Open the Cluster Administrator.
3. Right-click Cluster Group, point to New, and click Resource.
4. In the Name field, type Manage Node Agent.
5. In the Resource Type menu, select Generic Service.
6. Click Next.
7. In the Possible Owners window, verify that all of the cluster nodes appear in the
window.
8. Click Next.
9. Highlight Cluster IP Address and Cluster Name, move them to the Resource
Dependencies window, and then click Next.
Enabling these dependencies ensures that as soon as the Data Agent starts, the
Administrator can connect to the Data Agent through the cluster IP address or
the cluster name.
10. In the Service Name field, type Dell_OpenManage_Data_Agent and then
click Next.
11. Click Finish.
12. Click OK.
13. Right-click the new resource and select Properties.
The Properties window appears.
14. Deselect Affect group and click OK.
15. Right-click Cluster Group and select Bring Online.
If the resource is online, a message window appears stating “Dell OpenMan-
age Data Agent has started.”
NOTE: When the Dell OpenManage Managed Node Agent is installed as a
generic resource in the cluster, the cluster software is responsible for managing
the Data Agent. If you try to stop the Data Agent in the Control Panel or in the
Agent Configurator, the cluster will try to start the Data Agent automatically. If
this event happens, stop or start the Data Agent by using Cluster Administrator
to bring the Managed Node Agent resource offline or online.
