Dell FL100 Server User Manual

9-2 User’s Guide
PowerVault storage systems using one of the following graphical user interfaces
(GUIs):
Data Supervisor—allows you to configure and manage the disks and compo-
nents in a single PowerVault storage system, as well as bind and unbind logical
unit numbers (LUNs), change configuration settings, and create LUNs.
Data Administrator—provides the same capabilities as Data Supervisor, but also
allows you to configure and manage multiple PowerVault storage systems in a
single GUI window.
NOTE: Data Agent must be installed on one of the cluster nodes with either Data
Supervisor or Data Administrator.
The following subsection explains how to connect to the Data Agent using Data
Administrator and Data Supervisor.
Connecting to Data Agent Using Data Administrator
To connect to the Dell OpenManage Data Agent using Data Administrator, perform
the following steps:
1. Start Data Administrator.
2. In the Dell OpenManage Data Administrator Query dialog box, enter the
name of the cluster that contains the Data Agent.
Using the cluster name to connect to the Data Agent ensures that Data Adminis-
trator can always connect to the Data Agent, regardless of which cluster node is
running the Data Agent.
NOTE: Do not enter the cluster node (server) name.
Identifying the Cluster Name
To identify the cluster name that is running Data Administrator, perform one of the
following steps:
Create a host file in your home directory containing the name of the cluster.
Create a different file with the cluster name in another directory (not your home
directory) and specify the location of the file using the RAID_ARRAY_HOSTS
variable.
If the previous two options are not available, specify the cluster name in the
Data Administrator's Host Administration window.
NOTE: Do not run Data Administrator if you are using Dell OpenManage Data
Management Station.
See the Dell OpenManage Data Agent Installation and Operation Guide and the Dell
OpenManage Data Administrator Installation and Operation Guide, and the Dell
PowerVault Storage Area Network (SAN) Administrator’s Guide for instructions on
using the Dell OpenManage Data Agent and the Dell OpenManage Data
Administrator.
