Problem Solver 229
Check if the following actions were performed correctly: attachment of media on the
auto take-up reel unit and attachment of counterweights. See “Using the Auto Take-up
Reel Unit” on page 92.
If the measures above do not resolve the problem, continue with the next step.
6. Adjust Media Suction.
Media may rise because the media suction is weak.
Adjust Media Suction in the following manner.
Set the setting value to 10 temporarily. See “Customize Settings” on page 204.
Print and check if creasing is improved. If the creasing of media has improved,
media suction was too low.
While gradually lowering the Media Suction setting, repeat test printing until the
optimal state is reached.
Media Problems
Media is creased
Media jams
o Are the Media Tension and Feed Speed options in the setup menu correct for the current media?
If these options are not correctly adjusted for the current media, the media may be creased or torn during printing.
See “Customize Settings” on page 204.
o Are the heaters set too high?
Adjust heater temperature to suit the media.
o Try selecting Off for Tension Measurement in the setup menus.
Automatic tensioning may fail to maintain some types of media at the appropriate tension, resulting in excessive slack or
other tensioning problems that interfere with printing.
See “Customize Settings” on page 204.
o Is the media curled, folded, curved, creased or waved?
Cut and remove the curled, folded, curved, creased, or waved part. See “Cutting media” on page 88.
o
Is media loaded just before printing?
The pressure rollers may crease media left in the printer, or the media may also become wavy or curled.
