Is MultiFinder turned on (applies only to
System 6)? If so, try quitting from the application
and setting the application memory size to a
higher value (2Mb). Try turning MultiFinder off
and re-starting the Macintosh before printing.

Try setting the driver to Draft quality. Close all
Desk Accessories and document windows, other
than the one from which you wish to print. Turn
off any options in the application that consume
memory, such as ÒUse available memory for
speed.Ó Save what you are working on, quit from
the application, and re-start to clean up the
memory of the Macintosh.
■
Use the FARGO Backgrounder for processing a
batch print (see the ÒBatch PrintingÓ section of
this manual). As a last resort you should remove
any INIT and CDEV files in your System Folder
that you donÕt need.

When the driver is printing in Draft or High
quality, it stores the pages to be printed from the
document in a temporary file. This file is usually
in the System Folder and is called the ÒSpool
FileÓ (some applications may re-name the file or
put it in a different folder). In some cases, the
spool file can become very large, particularly if
the images are complex, such as scanned
photographs. The following points help reduce
the risk of running low on disk space.

Always start up from the hard disk. The driver
creates the spool file on the current startup disk.
A floppy disk will probably not have sufficient
space on it.
■
The driver puts all the pages to be printed into a
single spool file. If you have only a little space
left on the hard disk, you can print each page
from the document individually, using the From
and To fields in the Print dialog box.

Make sure that the printer is visible from the
Chooser and that its name is listed and selected.
If it is not visible, make sure that the printer has
power and is connected to AppleTalk network or
the printer port of the Macintosh. Try
disconnecting and re-applying power to the
printer. Try connecting the printer directly to the
printer port of the Macintosh.

properly terminated as specified by the network
manufacturer.
